Virtual Trader - Negavtive Stock Numbers??

I don't understand how it is possible to have a negative number of shares owned?
I have seen traders with this, and therefore they opperate at a profit!
Can someone please explain this to me?

These traders are short-selling. They are borrowing stock, which they don't own, selling it and hoping that it will go down in price, so they can purchase it at a lower price and hence make a profit.
To short-sell you simply press Sell at the execute trade screen, when you do not own any stocks.
